October’s 4th Friday @ the Arts Cafe

The Marlborough Arts Center’s 4th Friday @ the Arts Café on October 27 will star the Modern Riffs in the beautiful Charles W. Hall Art Gallery at 231 North Main Street in Marlborough. The Modern Riffs is a powerful classic rock, jazz, and funk group showcasing high school musicians. The group was founded in 2008 and currently consists of the following Bacon Academy and RHAM musicians. From Bacon Academy there are Annie Hageman, trumpet; Dawson Bertrand, alto saxophone; and Ethan Puetzer, drums. From RHAM are Erica Day, vocals; Garrett Masotti, keyboard; Joel Earhart, trombone; and Liam Calhoun, guitar. The group is led by bassist Kim Dubois of Colchester and Bruce Phelps of Marlborough.

The fabulous soloing skills of all these musicians will be highlighted throughout the evening with a wide array of music ranging from Miles Davis to Bruno Mars and beyond. Although this is a great concert for people of all ages, each member of the group will be available during intermission for a meet and greet to answer questions from young, aspiring musicians.

The admission is $10 per person at the door. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. with the concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments are available. The building is fully accessible and there is ample parking.
