At the Marlborough Arts Center on December 10, 2021, Marlborough’s own Bruce Phelps will be performing a variety of contemporary pop and jazz music for December’s 4th Friday @ the Arts Café. He is well known for his saxophone skills, along with vocals, flute and clarinet, and currently plays with Red Satin and other CT area bands as well as in solo appearances. In addition, he has been a mentor for young musicians, organizing several musical groups over the years, most recently The Modern Riffs, which he intends to reactivate in 2022. His guest on December 10 will be Teresa Hooker, a talented RHAM senior, also from Marlborough, who is a very talented vocalist and flutist. She has spent years playing flute and singing with The Modern Riffs, Wind Ensemble. And Jazz Band. She is currently singing in Encore and is the Tri-M Music Honor Society President. As a vocal soloist, Teresa has delighted audiences at a number of different venues, recently including the Marlborough Arts Center, Lebanon Green Vineyards, and Colebrook Village. They consider this concert as The Modern Riffs Duo. During intermission there will also be a dance performance by the Creative Dance Center of East Hampton, CT. This evening promises to be a wonderful combination of artistic talents.
