The Marlborough Arts Center announces that its 4th Friday @ the Arts Cafe in February is on February 26 featuring “Celtic Melody”. Led by Liz Farley Raymond, this Glastonbury -based group includes Eileen Burke Grabowski, Tom Morgan, Janet Morgan, and Brent Morgan. These 5 musicians will fill the beautiful Charles W. Hall Art Gallery with the lilt of Irish song, dance, and history. Together they will perform on two fiddles, whistle, concertina, banjo, mandolin, and barbond. If you don’t yet know what a barbond is, you are in for a delightful surprise. They will perform jigs, reels, hornpipes, slides, slip-jigs, hop-jigs, polkas, and more. They sing familiar Irish standards interspersed with “rare gems picked up in the back of pubs in the wee hours of the morning”, as noted on their website. This promises to be a fun evening and one which will lighten up our shortest , and usually dreariest, month.
Admission at the door is $10 per person. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30 p.m. BYOWine. Other refreshments are available.
The Marlborough Arts Center is a non-profit regional center for the arts at 231 North Main Street in Marlborough, CT. It is housed in an historic building with ample parking and is fully accessible.
