Obituary for David Paul Bourbeau, Marlborough
“I never wanted my name to appear on this page.” David P. Bourbeau, age 77, died on March 26, 2025,
from complications of his leukemia and lymphoma cancers. He was born on November 7, 1947, the
youngest of four children to parents Bernard and Dorothy Bourbeau, spending the majority of his youth
working on the family farm located in Norfolk and Goshen. He graduated in 1966 from WAMOGO High
School in Litchfield, CT.
David served honorably in the USAF from 1967 – 1971 attaining the rank of E5. He received his BS
degree in horticulture from UConn in 1975, while also working at Whitham’s Nursery in Bolton, but in
the mid 1980s he changed his profession to computer programmer (Computer Processing Institute)
working at several insurance companies until retirement.
He enjoyed gardening where he used his artistic talent to create new displays or redesigned existing
gardens, traveling extensively with his wife not only in the U.S. and Canada but also Europe, South
America, New Zealand, Iceland, and other parts of the world, playing pool at the Senior Center, and
living on Lake Terramuggus in Marlborough. David was happy volunteering at the Marlborough Arts
Center creating and maintaining the landscape and obtaining a grant to install the lower parking lot and
shed. Of course he was a UConn Huskies fan! His two regrets were never learning how to play the piano
and not taking Social Security at an earlier age.
Besides his wife and best friend of over 52 years, Debbie Dixon Bourbeau, he is survived by his brother
Bernard (Sandy) of Kentucky and his brother-in-law Richard Dixon (Brenda) of North Carolina. He was
predeceased by his sisters Priscilla Mosimann of Morris, CT, and Frances Fallon of Minnesota.
David has donated his body to the UConn Medical Center in Farmington to assist med students in their
learning. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, April 26, from 2 to 4 at the Marlborough Arts
Center, 231 North Main Street, Marlborough. Family and friends can gather to share stories and
memories with one another.
Special thanks are extended to all of the doctors who took care of him through this journey especially
Dr. Mark Tuttle (PCP, Marlborough), Dr. Susanna Hong (CT Oncology, Middletown), Dr. Amanda Kost
(Endocrinology, Middletown), Dr. David C. Fisher (Oncology, Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston),
and Dr. Stuart Jablon (Marlborough). Thank you to all of the nurses at the infusion center in Middletown
for the care and friendship you showed him over the past 14 years.
In lieu of flowers, David requests that donations be made to the Middlesex Cancer Center at 536
Saybrook Road, Middletown, CT.
