MAC August 2016 Memo to Members

This month’s 4th Friday @ the Arts Cafe, August 26, at 7:30 pm stars Hugh Blumenfeld and the Faithful Sky. Hugh has played once before to a delighted audience. Please come and be part of the next audience to be delighted by his music, his band, and his wonderful story of how playing for children in hospitals led him to become a doctor, thus melding together two great loves. Before that he was a teacher and songwriter and musician in the Folk Scene of the 80’s in New York City.

Also come and visit our booth at Marlborough Days on Sunday, August 28! Fun and art for children of all ages, plus a chance to talk with Fran Terase, MAC President, and Susan Whitehouse, who designs the annual art project for Marlborough Days.

Happy last month of summer to all !

MAC Memo for July 2016 to Members

Our 4th Friday @ the Arts Cafe on July 22 features “We Got Rhythm”, the Vaudeville-style song-and-dance duo of Larry Ruhl and Ellen Iovino who will interpret familiar (and some unfamiliar) songs from sources as diverse as Irving Berlin and Pharrell Williams, as well as from the duo’s own song catalog. Arrangements combine a variety of instruments including steel drum, trumpet, guitar, and more. Their homemade boomba, made from an old crutch, is an audience favorite. Tap breaks make feet a solo instrument and honor the couple’s favorite dance form. Visit www.wegotr.com for more information about the band.  What would Vaudeville be like if it existed in the 21st century? Come and find out!

Admission is $10 at the door. BYOWine. Other refreshments available.
