Seeking Holiday Arts and Crafts for our Gallery and New Vendors for our Gift Shop

The Holiday Arts and Crafts Sale will kick off on November 14th and we are looking to increase the number and variety of gift items we can offer the public. We are particularly hoping to sell smaller decor and decorations for the Autumn and Winter seasons: small mantle pieces, table pieces, swags, runners, ornaments, candle surrounds, greeting cards, greeting card holders, and other items within the $5-$25 range.
We need to keep our prices affordable because of the economy, but also want to continue providing unique and artistic items thanks to the creativity of our members.
If you have a marketable handmade item to donate, or would like the opportunity to sell your work in our gift shop, please call the Arts Center at 860-295-9389. Leave a message for Riva Clark who will arrange to see your work.
If you want to create something special and need supplies, we have some craft supplies available for your use. These can be obtained by calling the Arts Center for a pick-up time, plus Bonnie Desaulnier will also be available at the Arts Center on Wednesday, November 5th from 1-4 pm for your convenience.
Also, if you know of any artists/crafters that have unique and professional work and who might be interested in helping us, please share this with them.

Dear Artist,

The Marlborough Arts Center is pleased to invite you to participate in our upcoming Sculpture Show, which begins on Friday, Sept. 5th, and continues on weekends through Sunday, September 28th.   The entry fee is $25 per person.   We request that you bring an appropriate means of displaying your piece(s)

Included in this mailing is an Inventory Form 2014 for you to complete and return by Aug. 17th. The Arts Center will take a 30{eba5a16469fb4a7f18f8ea69c1431b00c5f2da579f8ac6bd75c322ccea0d0754} commission on work that is sold in the show. Payment will be at conclusion of show. We request that all items in this exhibit be offered for sale.

We will be compiling a book of artist’s biographies, so if you would like to be included in this booklet, please include a brief, one page biography about yourself and your accomplishments, with your Inventory Form 2014.

We also have a wonderful Gift Shop where you might want to sell some of your items. Anyone interested in selling through the Gift Shop should contact Susan Whitehouse at (860) 228 7654, or Riva Clark at 860 295 0557.

Rules:

The Marlborough Arts Center reserves the right to curate, hang and set up all displays. Every precaution will be taken to protect entries, and due care will be exercised in handling all work submitted. However, the Marlborough Arts Center, its volunteers, agents, officers, and board members will not be responsible for loss or damage to any work from any cause whatsoever, or the theft of any work on display or in storage. The submitting artist agrees to insure or self insure any work submitted, and to hold harmless the Marlborough Arts Center from any damage resulting from the use of the premises, or any loss or damage to submitted work or property of the Marlborough Arts Center members, guests, or others. The submission of works to this exhibit constitutes an agreement on the part of the artist or the artist’s agent to these conditions.

Figure Study Open Studio

Dear Members and other friends –

We’re pleased to announce that the Marlborough Art Center is about to start our Figure Study Open Studio program during the month of April – – and beyond, if we get good attendance.

Beginning on Tuesday, April 1, we will hold a Figure Study Open Studio every Tuesday afternoon in April from 1:00 to 4:00pm, at a cost of only $15.00 for the 3-hour session…or  SAVE with four consecutive sessions for only $50.00. We hope you’ll be able to join us for our opening session – and for many others in the future. And please, spread the word to your friends, in person and on Facebook, if you use it. (You could even re-post the announcement from our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MarlboroughArtsCenter and Comment that you’re attending.)

A few last points:

  • Because we’ll be using nude models, participants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Cameras will not be allowed.
  • No pre-registration – pay at the door. Please enter through the upper Gallery Entrance.
  • Bring your own supplies. We will have tables and some easels, but beyond that you’ll be on your own.
  • WANTED:   If you have an easel to donate, we’d be grateful.

  • HELP:  Please see our poster – feel free to print it out and post it in your library, senior center, workplace, favorite coffee shop, etc.
