Crowes Pasture Folk Duo: October 28, 2022

The Marlborough Arts Center is hosting the delightful Crowes Pasture Folk Duo for the 4th Friday @ the Arts Cafe on October 28, 2022.

A roots-infused, internationally touring folk duo, Crowes Pasture performs sometimes joyful, and oftentimes, poignant, songs that reflect a mutual passion, sense of discovery and celebration of the human connection. Monique’s romantic clawhammer banjo playing and Andy’s expressive guitar picking are enlivened by their personal chemistry, intimate harmonies and unique instrumental style that can only be described as a “banjo-guitar romance.”

Crowes Pasture has been a supporting act for The Kennedys and The Small Glories, and has performed at nationally renowned folk venues such as Club Passim, Shalin Liu Performance Center, Rockwood Music Hall, Rose Garden Coffeehouse and The Bull Run. Crowes Pasture was nominated for Americana Artist of the Year (Boston Music Awards) and Roots Act of the Year (New England Music Awards) in 2019 and named Finalist for Best Group/Duo in the International Acoustic Music Awards in 2020 and 2021. The duo have had eight singles reach Top 10 Songs on the Folk Alliance International Folk Chart, including their #1 hit, “Slow it Down,” the title track of their 2019 album. Fresh from touring in Southern Ontario and Quebec (Summer 2022), the duo are currently recording their fourth album, with award winning producer Eric Lichter of Connecticut’s Dirt Floor Recording Studios.

Admission is $10/person at the door. Doors open at 7:00 pm. The concert begins at 7:30 pm. The Connecticut Watercolor Society’s Fall Exhibition paintings are still on display, an added pleasure as background for the music. There is ample parking and the Arts Center is ADA accessible. Masks are recommended.

October: CT Watercolor Society Exhibition

The Watercolor Society of Connecticut under the Direction of John Atwater is now exhibiting their Fall Watercolor Exhibition from October 1 through October 30, 2022 at the Marlborough Arts Center, 231 North Main Street, in Marlborough CT. The Opening Reception open to all is on Sunday, October 2 to meet and greet the artists and enjoy both their company and the 57 paintings accepted into the Exhibition.

Artists from across Connecticut submitted over 150 paintings to be judged into this Exhibition by Bill Thomson, a Professor of Illustration at the Hartford Art School, the University of Hartford where he received the Outstanding Teachers Award in 2004 and the Innovations in Teaching Award in 2011. His recent work has focused on illustrating children’s books. Bill Thomson’s artwork has received more than 75 awards in the country’s most prestigious juried illustration competitions and it is an honor to have him judge the paintings included in this Exhibition.

The Exhibit is open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the month of October from 1-4 PM. Admission to the Watercolor Society of Connecticut’s Exhibition at the beautiful Marlborough Arts Center is free of charge. There is ample parking and the Arts Center is ADA compatible.
