Member Artists Show’s Reception Photos

The Member Artists Show’s Reception on January 13 was a gathering of artists and art supporters enjoying each others’ company in the beautiful setting of the Charles W. Hall Art Gallery.

Pictures show a general view, a smiling Audrey Carroll at the Reception table, and some MAC leaders with the Award Winners who are from left to right: Jim Grabowski and Roy Wrenn who co-chaired this Art Show and Sale, Albert D’Antonio, Jackie Jones, and Mary Horrigan who each won a Presidents’ Award for their art work, Joan Lester Vice President, and Riva Clark Treasurer. This Art Show remains open every Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m. through January.

January’s 4th Friday@ the Arts Cafe

To start the New Year off, Bob Burger, who is a well-known guitarist resident in Marlborough, will be the headliner for the Marlborough Arts Center’s 4th Friday @ the Arts Café musical evening on Friday, January 25. Bob is a semi-retired professional musician whose career began at age 8 singing with the Diocesan Chorister Boys’ Choir in Brooklyn, NY. Later while attending the University of Hartford, he started taking guitar lessons with Bob Shaw, the Jazz Guitar Professor at Hartford Conservatory. His first professional singing and guitar performance was with the Lou Dee Band in West Springfield, Massachusetts. After just a year Bob started the Sunshine Band, and played local clubs, bars, various groups, churches, and weddings. In addition he started teaching guitar to beginners from his home in Marlborough which has remained his base. At age 40 he joined the Rythmaires and by the age of 50 was a full-time professional musician. Now at age 75, Bob teaches part-time and plays for community shows. The Arts Center is delighted to host Bob for the first time at this 4th Friday @ the Arts Café.  Doors open at 7:00 p.m. Concert Begins at 7:30 p.m.

The Marlborough Arts Center, a regional center for the arts in their many forms, is at 231 North Main Street in Marlborough CT. Admission at the door is $10 per person. BYOWine. Other refreshments are available. There is ample parking and the historic building is fully accessible. Artist Member Show Reception

Everyone is invited to a Reception on Sunday, January 13 from 1-4 p.m. to meet and greet the artists of the Artist Member Show. Prizes will be awarded at 2:00 p.m. and refreshments are provided. The Art Gallery is filled with their works so be sure to come and join in the fun.  In the case of inclement weather, the Reception will be held on Sunday, January 27, from 1-4 pm. Any weather-related closing of the Arts Center will be shown on Channel 3 WFSB (CBS) TV.

Marlborough Arts Center Tag Sale

The Marlborough Arts Center is holding its annual Tag Sale on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. It is time to clean out your oldies and goodies and bring them over to the Arts Center at 231 North Main Street on the Tuesdays and Saturdays in January. Tuesday drop-offs are from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 15, 22, and 29. Saturday drop-offs are from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on January 12, 19, and 26. Items may also be left at the lower level next to the door.

We are accepting working household goods, etc. but no books, TV,s or clothes. Any items that are not sold at the Tag Sale will be donated to charitable organizations for use by others. This is always a fun fund raiser for the Arts Center and for all who donate and then return to buy.
