“East of the River” Juried Art Show

The Marlborough Arts Center cordially invites all regional artists to participate in our “East of the River” Juried Art Show of fine art, at 231 North Main Street, in Marlborough, Connecticut.  The exhibition runs from April 21 – May 6, 2017, offering over $1000 in awards. The Juror of Selection and Awards is Bill Colrus, a graduate of Paier College of Art, where he subsequently went on to join the faculty, teaching for 33 years. Bill teaches various classes and exhibits throughout the area, garnering many awards.

 

This exhibit will have some special elements beyond the anticipated high quality of artwork. It will include an evening of Special Viewing by professionals and business personnel. To aid in the sale of your art, the Arts Center’s commission has been reduced to 20{eba5a16469fb4a7f18f8ea69c1431b00c5f2da579f8ac6bd75c322ccea0d0754}. The Opening Reception on April 21st will include refreshments and a Silent Auction offering many interesting items. Open to all, this promises to be a special evening to come “Meet the Artists”, family, and friends.

The Marlborough Arts Center is a non-profit regional center for the arts that is housed in the historic Charles W. Hall Gallery. It is surrounded by landscaped grounds and adjoined by an ART PARK that is in its second phase of development. The Arts Center is easily accessible from Routes 2 or 66, has handicap access and ample parking. NEW Watercolor Class with Audrey Carroll Prucnal

Hello fellow Artists,

 

Hope this note finds you all well.  The Marlborough Art Center is hosting a 4 week watercolor class.  I am honored to be the instructor for the 2017 year.

 

The class will cover some new techniques…  loose and drippy to tight and refined.  More about backgrounds too.  All skill levels.

 

There will be two projects.   Hummingbirds and the class choice of a wonderful fun giraffe or poppies on a geometric background.

Skip 4/17  Monday as it is the day after Easter which could be hard for some… unless Class participants agree they are able to attend

Time: 5:30-7:30

Cost:  $80.00.  Payable to the Marlborough Art Center.

The class requires 6 students.

Class is held on the lower level of the Marlborough Art Center classroom.  Parking is in the rear and the entrance is in the back of the building.

Most important items to bring to the first class are:

  •  2 sheets (8 X 10 or larger) 140 lb cold press Arches watercolor paper
  •  3 brushes—a round “6 watercolor brush, a liner/rigger watercolor brush, flat 1/2 inch watercolor  brush
  •  large water container
  •  papertowels
  •  cardboard and tape to tape your paper to
  • pencil
  • Paints– see supply list for colors
  • palette or white dish to mix paints on
  • tracing paper

Please bring a check or cash for 80.00 to the first class.

March’s 4th Friday @ the Arts Cafe

An Irish Sing-a-Long in honor of St. Patrick’s Day will be featured at the Marlborough Arts Center’s 4th Friday @ the Arts Café on March 24, 231 North Main Street, in Marlborough, CT. The leader, Dianne Greco, and her group will be joined by the musicians of the well-known “Seat of Our Pants”, a fiddler from Glastonbury, a guitarist from Hebron, and a couple of folk musicians from Guilford with their guitar, bodran, and flute. These nine musicians promise to make this a rollicking and fun-filled evening. At this season, everyone is a little Irish, especially with the music and spirit that Dianne Greco always brings.

Admission is $10 at the door. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. with the concert beginning at 7:30 .m. BYOWine. Other refreshments are available. The Marlborough Arts Center is a non-profit regional center for the arts that is housed in an historic building surrounded by landscaped lawns and adjoined by a developing ART PARK. There is ample parking and the building is accessible.
