MAC Memo for July 2016 to Members

Our 4th Friday @ the Arts Cafe on July 22 features “We Got Rhythm”, the Vaudeville-style song-and-dance duo of Larry Ruhl and Ellen Iovino who will interpret familiar (and some unfamiliar) songs from sources as diverse as Irving Berlin and Pharrell Williams, as well as from the duo’s own song catalog. Arrangements combine a variety of instruments including steel drum, trumpet, guitar, and more. Their homemade boomba, made from an old crutch, is an audience favorite. Tap breaks make feet a solo instrument and honor the couple’s favorite dance form. Visit www.wegotr.com for more information about the band.  What would Vaudeville be like if it existed in the 21st century? Come and find out!

Admission is $10 at the door. BYOWine. Other refreshments available.

Ashly Cruz wows audience at June 4th Friday

ashly-cruzThe dynamic Ashly Cruz wowed the audience on June 24th at the Marlborough Arts Center’s 4th Friday @ the Arts Cafe. Back by popular demand, her Cabaret Show was a perfect setting for her voice and acting abilities. She sang. She sang in English, French, and Spanish. She danced. She led the audience in singing and dancing with her. The Charles W. Hall Art Gallery was filled with song and laughter as a result. How appropriate this was when considering that this historical building was once used as a dance hall for the mill workers of town during the Civil War.
