ARTS WEEKEND

Calling all Artists and Fine Crafters! The Marlborough Arts Center is having an “ARTS WEEKEND” on Saturday/Sunday, November 14 and November 15 that is open to artists who would like to display their artworks for sale. A table and chairs is $35 for 1 day or $50 for the 2 days. The first 15 artists to reserve will get free wall space included. RSVP to Neal Alderman (860) 537-6325. Day of the Dead Artists’ Reception and Mexican Buffet

Marlborough Arts Center invites everyone to the Artists’ Reception and Mexican Buffet on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. in the Art Gallery at 231 North Main Street. Admission is $10/person for the delicious buffet including Sangria. The evening also includes an outdoor candlelight procession at 7:30, music by Rich Johnson, and having the interesting history of the Day of the Dead as celebrated in Mexico described by two of the presenting artists. This intercultural affair will be fun, enlightening, and great for all ages to enjoy, as will be all the classes and presentations throughout this month dedicated to the Day of the Dead theme, the honoring of loved ones who have died.

MAC Memo to Members for October 2015

WHAT A MONTH WE HAVE IN STORE FOR EVERYONE! This is the month of the intercultural and interactive “El Dia de los Muertos” events from October 10 – November 1. This unique offering brings the Mexican Celebration of the Day of the Dead to Marlborough with art, music, crafts, classes, food and active participation by people of all ages.

The Art Gallery opens on Saturday, October 10, 1-4 p.m. and remains open every weekend day through November 1, the actual celebration of the Day of the Dead from 1-6:30 p.m.

Be sure to put on your calendars right now, and make reservations for, the ARTISTS RECEPTION and MEXICAN BUFFET on Friday, October 16, from 6-8 p.m. Admission is $10/person including meeting the artists, the delicious Mexican food served buffet style, Sangria, an outdoor candlelight procession at 7:30, and music by Rich Johnson. You will also hear an interesting overview and history of the celebration “El Dia de los Muertos” and how we in America have many ties to this day dedicated to memories of our loved ones who have died.

And of course, there is our 4th Friday @ the Arts Cafe on Friday, October 23 from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. The Kenn Morr Band returns by popular demand. He is an internationally known song writer and musician whose acoustic band always thrills the audience. He has a velvety baritone that makes his sings based on life experiences touch everyone. Admission is $10/person. Doors open at 7; Gift Shop will be open. BYOWine with other refreshments available.

The weather may be cool, but the action at MAC is hot . Do join in.
