4th Friday @ the Arts Cafe on September 26th

The “4th Friday @ the Arts Cafe” at the Marlborough Arts Center features the dynamic singing duo of John Johnson and Lyn Gagne on Friday, September 26, 2014. These vocalists are part of the Rusty Implements, a four-member group that features traditional and contemporary folk music, bluegrass, and original tunes. Although this concert highlights John and Lyn’s duets and their guitar playing, the other members of the group will sit in with their variety of instruments. Jeff Perkins, song-writer for the group, plays banjo, mandolin, and ukulele. Mark Chuoke plays mandolin and guitar. They are all known for a range of music from ballads to high energy songs, and audiences are moved by, and move with, their special interactive concerts.

The Marlborough Arts Center is at 231 North Main Street in Marlborough, CT. The building is fully accessible and there is ample parking. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m., but doors open at 7 so come early, choose your seats, and settle in for an enjoyable evening.

Admission at the door is $8/individual or $15 for two. BYOWine. Other refreshments are available. The Gift Shop filled with artist-created handcrafts, jewelry, wooden and pottery pieces, each of which is unique, will be open for your perusal and buying pleasure.

PRESIDENT JOAN C. LESTER’S SEPTEMBER 2014 LETTER

September is upon us; some leaves are already turning color and falling; the academic year has begun again; and we generally seem to have a new burst of goal-directed energy after those hazy days of summer.

Certainly MAC has jumped into the season with our first all Sculpture Show. Remember that the Opening Reception is Friday, September 5, from 7-9 p.m. at the Arts Center. Opening in two meanings of the word: the Opening of the show with meeting & mingling with the artists; and Opening of the Arts Center to everyone. So we hope to see many of our members, artists, and art lovers whether members or not! It is a great show with a wide range of sculptures to delight the senses.

As is our usual exhibition schedule, the Arts Center will be open every Saturday and Sunday in September from 1-4 p.m. for viewing the Show. The last day of the Show is September 28, so somewhere in those 4 weekends we sincerely hope that one will be convenient for you to visit.

There is always our 4th Friday @ the Arts Cafe to anticipate and this month on the 26th at 7:p.m. we present the vocal duo, John and Lyn. John Johnson and Lyn Gagne are part of the four-member group “Rusty Implements”, that features traditional and contemporary folk music, bluegrass, and original tunes. From high energy songs to heart rending love ballads, you’re sure to hear songs that will set your feet to tapping and your hearts to singing.

Do check our website www.marlborougharts.org for information on classes, and reminders of all that MAC offers every month, not just September.

With my personal wishes and hopes to see you enjoying these September pleasures,

Joan
