The Marlborough Arts Center opens the 2014 Holiday Season and its annual Artist Member Holiday Show, with an Open Reception on Friday, November 14, 7-9 p.m. in the beautiful Charles W. Hall Art Gallery, 231 North Main Street, Marlborough, CT. Admission is free and open to the public. The Opening Reception always provides an interesting opportunity to meet and greet the artists themselves, and to view close up and reflect upon the creativity of the artists in our midst. The Artist Member Holiday Show will then be open every Saturday and Sunday, November 15 – December 28, from 1-4 p.m. for your convenience.
This Artist Member Holiday Show was judged by Katherine Simmons, a well-known and respected artist, teacher at the Glastonbury Art Guild, graduate of Massachusetts College of Art, elected Artist Member of the CT Plein Art Painters Society, member of CT Womens Artists, the Lyme Art Association, the Salmagundi Club, and the Oil Painters of America. She is sought after as a judge for her experience and acumen and Marlborough Arts Center is pleased to have had her judge this show. Awards presented at the Reception will be for Best in Show; also 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place plus 2 Honorable Mentions each for both Wall Art and for 3D Art. The popular People’s Choice Award will be presented at the conclusion of the Show in December.
This year the Show is accompanied by a plethora of very affordable fine crafts for sale. Skilled artisans of the region have created pieces ranging in price from $2.50 to $250. There will be a table of pieces for under $25 that would make wonderful gifts appreciated by anyone. Many are signed by the artist and each piece is unique.
The Marlborough Arts Center is a non-profit regional center for the fine arts, performing arts, and fine crafts. It is located in an historic building which is interesting in itself. It has ample lit parking areas and is fully accessible.
